*When: Thursday 13th February
Doors open at 5:30p
Talk begins at 6pm
Gamefroot dev competition runs from 6:30pm - 8:00pm.
*Hi all,
Let's kick off Game Dev Nelson 2014 with an event! A Gamefroot Dev Off!
Gamefroot, a Wellington-based game dev platform is kindly feeding us
pizza while we endeavour to make the best Gamefroot game we can in an
hour. An /hour/ you say? Madness!
Gamefroot is a web-based, drag-and-drop game dev tool that can honestly
have you playing a game within 10-15 minutes yet has the scope for
creating much longer and more complicated platform and top-down arcade
games.
I (Edwin) will talk you through the basics of Gamefroot for about 15
minutes and we /might/ have a bit of a Skype chat with Gamefroot
creator, Dan Milward. Then we have 15 minutes to get set up and
registered and we're in to it.
*What you need to bring...
*Rock up with your laptop and your $5 koha. You will be able to hook
into The Bridge Street Collective wifi. We now have fibre!
*What you need to do...*
Eat pizza and make the coolest game you can in one hour.
First prize will be a juicy Steam voucher (sponsored by your Koha -
sorry, the Raspberry Pie was becoming a 'complicated' as a prize).
Judging will take place at 7:30pm. The Judges will be myself, Stewart
and one other TBC.
Looking forward to seeing you all there!
Edwin
