Nelson Web Meetups Redux: Nelson Web Meetup: Nelson Meetups

Hi Everyone

Back in 2010 Dan Randow, Galen King & myself had a dream of Nelson web people
getting together & talking about web type stuff.

That dream was put in motion & ran for about 5 years. Friendships were made,
jobs were found & careers were started.

However over the years Dan & Galen left Nelson, I got caught up in life/
family/ working in Richmond & gradually things petered out.

Recently I've had some folk getting fondly nostalgic about the good old days of
Nelson Web Meetups & I'm wondering whether it's worth getting the party
started, again.

What I'm looking for is expressions of interest & what people would like the
meetups to be. When they started in was a fortnightly morning meetup at a cafe
- but I'm open for suggestions.

So if you'd the like the occasional break from bashing your keyboard to talk
web with other web type people please drop me a line: <email obscured> or
drop into the UpShift office (above the TSB bank on the corner of Bridge/
Trafalgar).

Well ... there is a sort of web meetup still going on!

We shifted through a number of cafes after the Kitchen started feeling a bit
sterile and eventually even managed to acquire a few new faces. From this group
we have Kent (if he's not travelling), Jamie (who probably joined after you had
left) and myself still going. Some others joined through a facebook group /
climbing (yeah not so much mountain biking anymore).

All welcome to join us next Wednesday at Kush (8-9) and we can take it from
there.
Currently it's still fortnightly Wednesday morning coffees but I remember some
good pub meetups, tech talks and other events.
Adding more life to the group will be great :-)

another discussion format that might work.

If nothing else we should at least have a reunion and drag Dan back from Aussie
or wherever he’s loitering these days!

Yeah, I liked the evening tech talks too, and mornings are tricky for
