          <pre>Hey,

I am a big fan of designing in the browser, it's more realistic than static mock ups as you can effectively explore things like varying content lengths, different device sizes and browser quirks. These are all things that get overlooked during the visual design process and end up being after thoughts.

My main points to this would be:

1. If you are a visual designer creating for the web, there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON AND NO EXCUSE for you not to have an understanding of html and css. That's like a photographer trying to replace the clutch on your car, if they don't know what they are doing, it's only going to end badly.

2. Design is a process of refinement and iteration. If you are waiting till the final pixel perfect mock up to get sign off from the client, you're probably waiting too long. Sign off should be done at various stages like completion of content strategy or wireframes. If you need to / can educate your clients about your process.

Also rather than submitting a mockup of the page to the client you could try Style Tiles (http://styletil.es/) where you define the elements that will make up the final page, independent of layout.

Stewart Knapman.</pre>
