Hi Everyone Back in 2010 Dan Randow, Galen King & myself had a dream of Nelson web people getting together & talking about web type stuff. That dream was put in motion & ran for about 5 years. Friendships were made, jobs were found & careers were started. However over the years Dan & Galen left Nelson, I got caught up in life/ family/ working in Richmond & gradually things petered out. Recently I've had some folk getting fondly nostalgic about the good old days of Nelson Web Meetups & I'm wondering whether it's worth getting the party started, again. What I'm looking for is expressions of interest & what people would like the meetups to be. When they started in was a fortnightly morning meetup at a cafe - but I'm open for suggestions. Just to follow-up on this discussion we're now on 200/100 unlimited data with Actrix. Our last bill was $135 (incl. GST). So I'm pretty damn happy.
Actrix have been good so far. Their communication was really good and the switch-over was so flawless Spotify didn't even stop playing. However I'm still waiting to go from 100/50 to 200/100 so I can't say much useful stuff about their bandwidth performance. It is nice to have an ISP where you can just phone them and talk to a helpful/ knowledgeable person within a couple of minutes - so that puts them light years ahead of our experience with 2degrees.
As an update Inspire don't seem to be able to connect in Nelson/ Tasman unless your in part of the Network Tasman interwebs zone (rural Tasman?) However Actrix can hook up in Chorus zones and I've gone with them. We're getting double the download speed and 50% more data at half the price: - 200/100Mbps UFB - 1 Terabyte data - $155 incl GST. 2degrees still haven't got back to me. I'm wondering if I won't hear from them until the change of service request goes through.
